The Man Behind the Boat
Commercial fisherman, Bodega Bay regular, and Davis local — Captain Patrick Long has spent nearly two decades bringing the Pacific's finest seafood to Northern California tables.
Patrick Long — Fishing Since 2007
Pat Long grew up with a love for the water and a respect for where food comes from. He started commercial fishing in 2007 and has spent the years since mastering the craft — learning the tides, the seasons, the runs, and the rhythms of the Pacific off Bodega Bay.
Based in Davis, California, Pat makes the run to Bodega Bay's Spud Point Marina to work the waters aboard his two vessels: the classic wood boat Wanda Lee (built 1970, Longview, WA) and the nimble 27-foot Farallon salmon troller Long Gone (built 1978). Both boats are working vessels with real history — and both have proven themselves season after season.
Pat's philosophy is straightforward: the best seafood is the freshest seafood, and the freshest seafood comes directly from the person who caught it. No cold storage warehouses. No distributors taking a cut. No days-old fish passing through a supply chain. Just Pat, his boats, and the fish — delivered to you.
Long Life Fishing serves individual families, local restaurants, farmer's markets, crab feeds, and wholesale buyers across the Davis–Sacramento–Bodega Bay corridor. If you've ever wanted to know exactly where your fish came from and who caught it, this is it.

Bodega Bay & the Fishing Heritage
Bodega Bay has been a fishing hub on the Northern California coast for generations. The harbor at Spud Point Marina is home to a working fleet of commercial fishermen who follow the seasons — salmon in spring and summer, albacore and bluefin tuna in late summer, rockfish and black cod year-round, and Dungeness crab in winter.
The waters off Bodega Bay sit at the edge of the California Current, a cold-water upwelling system that brings nutrient-rich water to the surface and supports one of the most productive marine ecosystems on the Pacific Coast. This is why the fish here are so exceptional — they're wild, well-fed, and caught in some of the cleanest waters in the world.
Small-boat commercial fishing like Pat practices is a tradition under pressure from industrial fishing operations and changing regulations. By buying directly from Pat, you're supporting not just a local family business, but a way of life that has defined coastal Northern California for over a century.
Sustainable by Nature
Small-boat commercial fishing is inherently more sustainable than industrial-scale operations. Pat uses selective gear, follows all California DFW regulations, and respects seasonal closures designed to protect fish populations for future generations.
Wild-Caught
Every fish is wild-caught from the Pacific Ocean — never farmed, never frozen at sea.
Seasonal
We follow the natural seasons and California DFW regulations to protect fish populations.
Direct Sale
No middleman means less waste, fresher fish, and more money stays with the fisherman.
